Nancy Lynn O’Rourke
1938-2021
Nancy Lynn O’Rourke, 83, of Edmond, OK, ascended into Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, November 8, 2021, after complications from a stroke and pneumonia. Nancy was born October 6, 1938, in Oklahoma City. She was a devoted wife, mother, and the most awesome Gran ever!
Nancy graduated from Northeast High School, Oklahoma City University and obtained her master’s degree from the University of Central Oklahoma. Nancy was a well-respected, retired, high school English teacher that was passionate about teaching. Nancy taught at many schools where she made lifelong friendships. Of which included Northwest Classen, Heritage Hall, Deer Creek and her most lengthy time was at Putnam City North.
Nancy was a member of the Church of Christ, a huge College football fan, especially OU! She also enjoyed watching any figure skating competition and British TV and movies. She was a world traveler, avid reader, and crossword puzzle enthusiast. Nancy never met a stranger, and she was always trying to make a connection.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Ed O’Rourke, parents Lynord & Ruth Foree and her brother John Foree. She is survived by daughter Lynda Hamlet and husband George Esch, son Michael Bradshaw, Stepson Edward O’Rourke and grandchildren David Hamlet, Kyle Hamlet, Nathan Hamlet, and his wife Ashleigh,as well as Great Granddaughter Ella Lily Hamlet.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Oklahoma Special Olympics.
Services will be held Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel, Edmond, OK.
