Murphy died Sunday at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in New Orleans to Murphy and Florence Bourgeois. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Patricia, children Andrew and Cindy Bourgeois, Michele and Ashel Richardson, Jacqueline Daughtry and Randall Daughtry, grand children Corey, Ryan, Meredith, Barbra Jean, Kendall, Megan, Zachary, Alex and Carly, great grand children Bralyn, Karsyn, Grayson, Jude and CharleeAnne.

Murphy graduated from St. Aloysius High School in 1955. He then joined the Air force retiring in 1976 as a Senior Master Sergeant. During his military career he was named Tinker Air force Base Senior Non-commissioned Officer of the Year, he received the Ed Skvaria Distinguished Graduate Award, and while stationed in Thailand he received a Medal for Outstanding Service and numerous other awards.

After retiring he enjoyed being “Papaw” and being involved in Timeout at St. John’s. He was a 4th degree Knight. He enjoyed golfing and was the 2001 Senior Club champion at Kickingbird golf club.

Services are Thursday Dec. 22 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to; Rev. Balaswamy Konka, St. Michael’s Church, Podalakur, Nellore-524345, Andhra Pradesh India or Time Out at St. John’s, P.O. Box 510, Edmond, Ok. 73083

Services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Edmond.
