Morris C. Blake
July 16, 1923 – December 30, 2014
Morris Blake was born in Eram, Oklahoma, on July 16, 1923, to Mark and Harriet (Lenox) Blake, the youngest of four children. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister. He passed away peacefully on December 30, with his family at his bedside. He was affectionately known as “Red” to his family and close friends.
He attended schools in Edmond and Cushing, OK. He graduated from Cushing High School in 1941. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1943 and served in the Pacific with the 20th Air Force until 1946.
He married Lola Jewell on November 6, 1948, in Wichita, Kansas.
He received a B.S. Degree in Education from Central State College in 1949, and an M.S. Degree in School Administration in 1958. He served as a principle in Depew and Piedmont schools in Oklahoma. He retired from Piedmont in 1980 due to health problems.
He was an avid fisherman and especially enjoyed fishing at Sooner Lake and Port Arkansas, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Lola, of 66 years, his son, M. Timothy of Oklahoma City, his daughter, Carol Barker, and husband, Bill, of Edmond, and grandchildren, Claire and Lucas Barker.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 2, at 1 pm at Henderson Hills Baptist Church with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Deacons Benevolent Fund at Henderson Hills Baptist Church. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Harbor Light Hospice for their loving care to Morris.
