Millie Young, 83, of Edmond, passed away on October 2, 2020, surrounded by her children and loved ones. Born in Bokoshe, Oklahoma, she is preceded in death by her adoring husband of 64 years, Glen Young, who passed away on March 17, 2020, and her five siblings. She is survived by five children: Pamela Burnside and husband Dan, Brenda Darley, Melvin Young and wife Nicki, Chris Young, and Jason Young; four grandchildren: Nicholas Darley and wife Colleen, Alysia Cook and husband Craig, Ryan Deane and wife Cayse, and Katelyn Young; a step-grandchild: Lauren Bradley and husband Chris; and six great-grandchildren: Camron and Aislinn Darley, Landon and Callen Deane, and Carter and Tristen Cook; along with numerous nieces, nephews and their children and grandchildren; and many dear friends.
A devoted wife and mother, Millie was known for her gregarious personality and ability to light up a room, her fabulous sense of personal style and love of fine jewelry and clothing, her natural talent for interior decoration, for keeping a meticulously clean home, and for her tremendous generosity toward others. Disabled in later years by Post-Polio and Parkinson’s syndromes, Millie had a large list of friends and relatives whom she telephoned every week to lift their spirits (and hers).
Millie dedicated her life to Jehovah and became a baptized member of Jehovah’s Witnesses on August 27, 1960. Her faith was the foundation of her life and of her marriage. After losing her husband in the spring, she was sustained by her eager anticipation of the fulfillment of John 5:28-29, so that she and Glen will be together again in the resurrection.
Unable to have a memorial service for Glen in the spring due to Covid-19, Millie’s family and friends are comforted that Millie and Glen’s fruitful lives and enduring love story will be remembered in a joint memorial service on October 24, 2020, at 1 p.m., at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Glen spent the majority of his working life in civil service and had a fine reputation as a diligent and hard worker. He also taught his children about honesty, integrity and hard work. The most important event in his life was when he dedicated his life to his heavenly father Jehovah and was baptized in 1961. This began a life of self-sacrifice that lasted until his death. He enjoyed the door to door ministry and helped many individuals to understand bible truths. He also diligently taught his children to love Jehovah and Jesus Christ and exercise faith in the promise of everlasting life. He lived and loved his faith and as a result had a spiritual family of several hundred individuals. We look forward to the time when Job 14:13-15 will be fulfilled.
