Image3Mildred Marie Watson passed away on June 13, 2014 in Edmond, Oklahoma. Mildred, “Midge”, was born in Rogersville, Missouri on December, 12, 1923 to Arthur Brown and Iva Broyles.

Mildred began her career as a Journeyman Welder during World War II in San Diego, California. She was the first Certified Female Arc Welder in San Diego County and 1 of only 2 women welders in San Diego County, California during World War II.

After her welding career ended, she was active in Real Estate sales until her retirement in 1983.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Frank D. Watson; sister Lorraine Burns, Greenleaf, WI; and her parents Arthur Brown and Iva Broyles.

Mildred is survived by daughters Gayla Stephens of Arcadia, OK and Teri Harper of Edmond, OK; brother Arthur Brown and wife Beverly of Lakeside, CA; 5 grandchildren, Ron Chandler of Arcadia, OK, Linn Stephens of Joplin, MO, Becky Granger of Escondido, CA, Melissa Sawyer of Bentonville, AR, and Jessica Harper of Edmond, OK; 10 great grandchildren 5 great great grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends. Services for Mildred will be Tuesday, June 17th, 2014 at 10:00 am at Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, Oklahoma.
