Michael Wayne Johnson, PE, 57, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away on October 1, 2018 following a brief illness. Mike was born in Tulsa, OK on October 14, 1961 to John Logan Jr. and Dolores Anne (Leu) Johnson. He grew up in Burleson, Texas and his family moved to Omaha, NE in 1978. Mike graduated from the University of Nebraska with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. He began his long career with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation in 1985 as an Engineer in Training and progressed through the ranks, becoming a Professional Engineer in 1990. In 1998, he was promoted to Bridge Management Engineer, a position he held until his untimely death.

Mike was an avid Husker football fanatic who refused to miss a game and was known as “Husker Mike” to many of his friends. He truly loved playing golf, fishing, horse racing and classic cars. He was well-known for his fun-loving nature and quick wit. He was also an enrolled member of the Winnebago Tribe.

Mike was a loving and devoted partner to Marcia Lynn Goff for 16 years. They married on September 18th of this year. He is also survived by a sister, Anne Steinhoff (Dan) of Omaha, brother, Stephen (Lisa) of St. Joseph, MO, nephew, Andrew Steinhoff and many friends. His parents preceded him in death.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 5, 2018 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond, OK.

A comforting thought is at Acts 24:15, “There is going to be a resurrection.” While words fail to capture the pain of losing a loved one, we look forward to the time when words fail to capture the joy of having our heavenly Father return your dear one to you. May Jehovah God bring you peace and comfort during this difficult time.
