Michael Darrell Freeman
1964 – 2025

Michael Darrell Freeman was born to Marvin and Tish Freeman on August 1,1964, in Killeen Texas. Mike made Jesus the Lord and Savior of his life in 1972. After a courageous, faith-filled battle with ALS, in the coolness of early morning surrounded by his family, Mike received his complete healing to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
Mike’s life was filled with love. A beautiful girl named Kelli Riley walked through his door in 1986. They married in March of 1988. They lived and raised their family in Oklahoma for their 36 years and 10 months of marriage.
He received a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Central State University in 1989 in Oklahoma. He worked for the City of Edmond in the IT Department from 1990 until retiring in 2023. He received a special award from the city for outstanding contribution in IT.
Mike enjoyed traveling, particularly cruising, skiing, and participating in beach activities with his wife and family. He could snorkel for hours. He loved spending time with his children with their activities and watching his grandchildren grow. He enjoyed spending time outside on the farm fishing, target shooting, and swimming in the pool. He was an avid fan of OU sports and Oklahoma City Thunder basketball. Mike was a gifted singer who loved to sing in church on the praise team, in the choir, and in a quartet. He cherished the moments of singing with his family.
Mike is survived by his wife, Kelli, his daughter, Kayla and her husband Jesse Wilder, his son, Matt and his wife Shelby, his son, Mark and his wife Coral; his four grandchildren: Lila, Kameryn, Caroline, and Crew; his parents, Marvin and Tish; his sisters, Cindy Boesen and her husband Ben, Kim Walter and her husband Ben, and his niece and nephews.
Public visitation will be held Thursday, January 23, 2025, beginning at 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home. Family will be present to greet friends and guests.
Services will be held Friday, January 24, 2025, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Edmond. Interment will follow the service at Gracelawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Foundation, Russell Murray Hospice, or People’s Church Edmond
