1942 – 2024

Meredith Coffey, 81, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on the early morning of June 20th, 2024.

Meredith was born on September 1st, 1942, to Ralph and Hallie Jean Boyette in Carlisle, Arkansas. Her father, a pastor, gave her knowledge of the Lord from a young age, and she accepted Jesus in her heart as a teenager. She graduated from high school in Pomona, California and briefly attended seminary in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

She met Emil Coffey through his pastor. After cultivating a loving relationship, they married on April 12th, 1969. They later had two children- Rachel and Mark. Their family lived in multiple states: Arkansas, Texas, Kansas, and Oklahoma. Later on, they settled down in Edmond. Meredith worked at Boeing alongside her husband before they both retired. After the early death of her daughter, the couple took on caring for their grandchildren.

She enjoyed playing the piano and the organ and was mostly self-taught. Meredith also harbored a love for animals, especially cats, and cared for many pets. Additionally, she was a member of various local Baptist churches.

She is survived by her husband, Emil Coffey; son, Mark Coffey; granddaughters, Laura and Sarah Liepins; brother in law Gary Coffey, along with his wife, Leta; brother in law Jack Alleger; others bearing the names Coffey, Alleger, Cates, Boyette, and Liepins; and many friends she touched the hearts of.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph, and Hallie Jean Boyette; her daughter, Rachel Coffey-Roby; a stillborn daughter; and sister-in-law Carol Alleger.

Graveside services will be held Monday, June 24, 2024, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond, Oklahoma.

    Grandma has been there for me in many ways growing up. I miss her so much.
