Melvin Curtis Workman, 72, of Edmond, Oklahoma died June 5, 2019. He was born in San Antonio, TX, the third son of Melvin Archi and Lucy (Barber) Workman. He was educated in Midwest City Public Schools. He went on to receive his BA from Oklahoma City University with a degree in Economics. In 1968 he was married to Evelyn Horn at Herold Mennonite Church in Cordell, Oklahoma. They have two sons, Derek K. Workman and Bradley E. Workman.

Mel Workman was employed by United States Gypsum Drywall Supply, Cherokee Building Materials, and Dal Tile as a Sales Manager. He came out of retirement to work for Edmond Public Schools as a bus driver for special needs children, and a part time employee for Ross Creek Golf Course. Mel was a devoted husband, and father, and member of Cross Timbers Church where he served as a volunteer for the Wednesday Night Children’s Program. He leaves his beloved wife Evelyn; his sons Derek and his wife Denessa of Edmond, OK, Bradley and Nova Kay of Oklahoma City, OK. He also leaves two brothers; Bobby and his wife Jin from Stait Lucia, Florida, and Benny and his wife Merci from Choctaw, OK; Grandchildren; Daniel, Makalia, and Shamali Workman. Sister – in – law ; Gaye Horn. Several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Melvin Archie Workman and Lucy (Barber) Workman.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, June 12th at 10:00 A.M. at Cross Timbers Church with Pastor Jeremy Jordan presiding. Memorial gifts in Mel Workman’s memory can be made to the American Heart Association.

    I ‘grew up on the block’ with Mel and Bobby. We had a lot of fun together. Mel was very athletic. He was responsible for me becoming an outfielder instead of a shortstop. My sympathies to his family.
