Melva Ann Jackson

Melva Ann Jackson

1944-2020

On May 22, 2020 heavens pearly gates opened and took in a new angel, Melva Ann Jackson of Edmond, Oklahoma. Melva had been ill for some time now, undergoing a kidney transplant two years ago (donated by her daughter Tracy), but ill health came to a peak when she was diagnosed with untreatable cancer. She went peacefully at home holding her husband’s hand and surrounded by her family

Melva was born on March 23, 1944 to Beulah and Melville Johnson in Grandfield, Oklahoma. She married her life- long sweetheart, who she has been with since eighth grade, Grant Jackson, on February 16, 1963.

Melva loved traveling and especially enjoyed walking on the beach collecting seashells. She spent many hours playing with her beads and making jewelry. She mostly enjoyed spoiling her children, husband and grandchildren. Everyone who met her knew she was the most caring, kind-hearted person you will ever meet.

She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Grant Jackson of the home, her daughter Tracy Sadler and her husband Stan of Edmond, Oklahoma, her daughter Stacy Darling and Phillip Mobbs of Norman, Oklahoma: 2 grandchildren-Charlee Sadler, Sydney Jones and her husband Jack who are expecting, 3 step-grandchildren Kristianne Sadler, Josh Sadler and his wife Blake, Matt Sadler and his wife Laci; 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

The family will be gathering for a celebration of life, Wednesday May 27 between 4:00-6:00pm at Matthews Funeral Home & Cremation Service located at 601 S. Kelly Ave, Edmond, OK. The family would like for all those that are able to come, to join them in honoring the life of Melva Jackson.

Grant, Tracy and Stacy I know your hearts are broken at the loss of Melva. She was always a dear, caring FRIEND. My love to all of you❤️?❤️

    1. I worshiped with Grant and Melba at Cherokee Hills in the 1960’s They were and are special friends, so sorry to hear of her health problems and her death. She was such a sweet lady, Grant told me one time he and Melba had never had an argument, they were special friends, they came to my retirement party… Love you so sorry for your loss. As a faithful Christian I know she could say with Paul, Phil 1:21-23 to depart to be with the Lord is far better. Granvlle and Marilyn Clapp

Melva,,,you have always been such a Beautiful Friend, who cared and always had a kind word for others, especially me! I met and loved you and Stacy first before meeting Grant and Tracy, but I felt so much of the family as anyone could. Could feel so comfortable around all of you, knowing so much Love!
You ran the Race,,,and have the ultimate Prize of being in Heaven. I feel a little envious cause it’s my goal to make it to meet Jesus one day and set at His Feet and Thank Him for so many Blessings! But I know you’ll meet me at the gate when I arrive with your Crown of Glory!! I have and will always Love you, Vicki Groomer

Melva was always such a bright light at church every Sunday. I loved chatting with her and hearing her cheerful voice! She will be greatly missed. We love you, Jackson family, and are walking with you.

  9. I got to know Melva this past year when we moved to Edmond. Spending time with her and going to lunch with her was the highlight of my week. She showed me all her beautiful jewelry she made by hand and I have a necklace she gave me I will always cherish. When I wear it I will feel her presence with me. I love you Melva Jackson and I will miss you bunches! Penny Arnold

What a wonderful lady and she was a part of our Guadarrama-Thomas family. My condolences go out to the family.

  13. Dear Jackson Family, Melva was such a special part of our family’s circle. Her kind, loving demeanor was unequalled. Her tireless dedication to running our Dad and Grandpa Frank Thomas’s Office will always be cherished by our family. She spent hours on end patiently playing with the grandchildren who constantly wanted to go “visit Melva’s office”. What a beautiful life and legacy she leaves. May your grief be soon replaced with only wonderful memories. The Family of Frank Thomas (The Guadarramas, Walkers, Lincks, Crooms, Griffiths, Harrises)

  17. I was very sad to hear that Melva has passed away. I worked in the Dolman office with Judy McC. and several of us on the same floor enjoyed many lunches together–even after we were no longer working. Melva had such a gentle spirit and kind demeanor. I send my deep sympathy and know that there are many treasured memories that will provide you comfort.

Grant, as one who is still experiencing the pain you are suffering, I can truly empathize with you. Melva and June have both reached their life’s goal .

May we now go through our lives, and be lucky enough to join them again, when our time is also up. All I can say friend, is hang in there. The pain , they tell me, will ease with time. Your friend. Don

I have tried to find and reunite with Melva Ann for years, but could never locate her on Facebook. Growing up together in Grandfield, we made some memories that linger still. She was an inspiration and source of strength to me, especially during our senior year. My heart is broken with yours.
