Max Tyrrell

August 17, 1934 – May 15, 2015

Max Tyrrell went to be with Jesus on May 15, 2015. He was born in Nebraska on August 17, 1934, to Clarence and Eunice Tyrrell.  Max was preceded in death by his wife, Janey, parents, one sister and one brother.   Max was a husband, dad, grandpa, and tyrrell max main picgreat grandpa.  He will be remembered by those he left behind as a man who loved to laugh, tell jokes, spend time with family (especially his grandkids) and enjoyed life.  Max leaves behind son and daughter-in-law, Dwight and Peggy Tyrrell of Borger, TX; son, Mark Tyrrell of Edmond; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Roger Seaton of Edmond; and son and daughter-in-law, Mickey & Emily Tyrrell of Vinita.  Max also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.   In addition, he is survived by a brother, two sisters, and a brother-in-law.  Max kept strong ties to Western Nebraska and subjected his family to numerous trips over the years to see family and friends.

Max served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany.  He met Janey in Omaha and they were married at Edmond First Methodist Church in 1960. After marriage, Max and Janey lived in Edmond where their four children were born.  Their first home was in a duplex on the current site of UCO.  His oldest son, Dwight, was born in the Edmond hospital which was down town above the old movie theater on Broadway.  Max helped his father in-law with home construction for a few years, managed the Edmond bowling alley, supervised a finish trim crew, and then became a home builder.  He was instrumental in the construction of many homes in Edmond and Northwest OKC.  Max was a master carpenter and left many hand built keep sakes with his children and grandchildren.

Max’s kids and grandkids have a lot of great memories of family vacations and trips to Sooner football games.

Services will be Tuesday, May 19, at 10:00 a.m., at Mathews Funeral Home a 601 S. Kelly, Edmond, OK.  Interment will be at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond.
