Mary Roberta Packer

August 9, 1945 – January 28, 2023

Mary Roberta (Collins) Packer was born in Rock Island, Illinois on August 9, 1945 to Aubrey Collins and Rodena Dukes. She passed away at the age of 77 in Edmond, Oklahoma on Saturday, January 28, 2023. 

Mary graduated from Douglas High School in 1963. She later started working for the Department of Human Services for 24 years until she retired in 2005. In 1974 Mary and Napoleon “Buck” were wed. Mary had two sons Clarence Johnson and Alton Johnson Jr. (deceased) and a daughter Tammy Onan. Mary and Napoleon “Buck” were married for 49 years.

Mary enjoyed documenting memories and organizing her photos and videos. She enjoyed listening to music and planning annual family picnics. Mary was such a blessing to so many lives. Her giving and caring nature to take care of her family and others was evident. She could light up any room with her smile and laugh. 

Mary was preceded in death by parents Aubrey Gillam Collins (Father); Clarence and Rodena Dukes (Stepfather/Mother); Alton Johnson Jr.(son); and Aubrey Collins (Brother).

Mary is survived by: her husband Napoleon Packer Jr; son Clarence Damon Johnson; daughter Tammy Onan and husband Norman; Grandchildren: Damon Johnson and his wife Maddison, Julian (JuJu) Lane, Cora, and Stoney Onan; Seven great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, her best friend Luandria, and a host of cousins, friends, and family. 

A come and go visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday beginning at 11:00 AM and lasting until 8:00 PM and also, on Friday, February , 2023, beginning at 8:00 AM and lasting until 1:00 PM at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond, Oklahoma.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 3, 2023, at the Matthews Funeral Home Chapel in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Spencer, Oklahoma.
