1930-2022
Mary Frances Jane (Hatcher) Bogle, aged 92, peacefully passed away 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 6, 2022 in hospice at Bellevue Health & Rehabilitation, Oklahoma City, OK.
Mary was born in the town of Gilmer, Texas, on August 3, 1930. She was the daughter of William Herbert Hatcher and Nona Estella “Stella” Whitten. She was sister to 11 brothers and sisters. As a young girl, she lovingly cared for her younger siblings, some of whom consider her a mother figure.
Mary married T.J. (Jack) Bogle on March 6, 1949 at Calvary Baptist Church in Childress, Texas. She supported T.J. while he was serving in the U.S. Navy and they raised eight children together across the southern United States, primarily in Texas and Oklahoma.
Mary was a hard worker, raising her growing family, while serving as a role model working beside her children at the Arnett School in Oklahoma, or chopping cotton for local farmers. She had worked as a teacher’s aide for the Head Start program, as well as a cafeteria worker at the Arnett school. She fed hundreds of children and teachers who would often return for seconds because of Mary’s excellent cooking.
Mary was a consummate homemaker and was known to always provide a delicious meal to her family. Sharing together around the table was important to her. She busied her hands by making quilts or embroidering gifts like pillowcases or placemats for her siblings, children and grandchildren, so much that her embroidery hoop and thimble were a common sight by her chair.
Mary had accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her savior and was baptized. She will be remembered for her kind, gentle, and easy-going personality, facing any adversity with grace and courage.
Mary was a loving grandmother and enjoyed hosting her grandchildren and entertaining them with her impressive collection of Disney VHS tapes, dominoes, and board games. Her children and grandchildren are a testimony of her love and teachings.
She was and is loved by her family. She will be truly missed.
Mary is preceded in death by her father William and mother Stella; her husband T.J.; her siblings Gladys Stogsdill, William David “Dub” Hatcher, Charles Herbert “Hub” Hatcher, Wayne Hatcher, and Gordon Dale Hatcher; her son Richard Bogle, daughters-in-law Marsha Bogle and Katrina Bogle; and her grandchildren Coby Bogle and Dusty Bogle.
Mary is survived by her siblings Nona Talley of Marlow, OK, Jean Pogue of Wichita Falls, TX, Ann Mims of Weatherford, TX, Betty Novak of Edmond, OK, Lorraine Almsted of Lubbock, TX, and Lameda Black of Wellington, TX; her children and their spouses, Terry Bogle of Hollis, OK, Joanna Bogle of Wichita Falls, TX, T.J. and Sandra Bogle of Katy, TX, Ken and Cynthia Bogle of Bixby, OK, Patricia Kliewer of Edmond, OK, Pam and Gil Mitchell of Richmond, TX, Mike and Karen Bogle of Edmond, OK, and Carol and Tim Patton of Owasso, OK; 18 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
