Before having children Marvel worked two years at the FHA, spent time as a Secondary school teacher and worked for a time in the advertising department of the Washington Post. Marvel was an accomplished piano player who had the special talent of being able to play by ear. In her younger years she played the piano in the Christian church and instilled a love for music in her children and in others she came in contact with. She also enjoyed genealogy and provided much family history for all. She was a very loving mother and always put others wants and needs before her own. Above all else Marvel loved the Lord and spent much time every day reading Scripture. She never ceased sharing her love of the Lord and music with all she came in contact with.
