Martha Jane Connelly

Martha Jane ConnellyConnelly, Martha

1960-2017

Martha Jane Pettit Connelly was born December 15th, 1960 in Fallon, Nevada to Ammah Susan (Carpenter) and Alfred Clark Pettit. She was the youngest of three girls.

Martha lived a full life of travel and adventure. She and Tom (her partner in crime of 33 years) created a lifetime of rich, gripping, and loving memories. They raised three children, Cody, Trevor, and Erin. Such nomads this woman and her family were, they sought home in many towns of Oklahoma, the peace of the Pacific Northwest, the Rockies of Colorado, and back to the red dirt.

The bringer of joy, Martha attracted such deep and loving relationships anywhere she went. People adore her. She was a safe place of home. Her healing hugs and fierce loyalty make her friendships a gift.

The Meme (Martha) was the proudest grandmother, with unconditional love and patience. She adorned her grandchildren with magic, silliness, and passion.

She is preceded in her death by her mother and father.

Her lasting love and memory is carried on in those survived by her; her parents Janice and Edward Connelly, her husband Tom, and their three children – Cody and wife Sarah, Trevor and wife Crystal, Erin and husband Steven. Their eight grandchildren – Lillian and Parker Connelly, Brandon, Wyatt, and Liam Connelly, Claire, Jack, and Ophelia Darcy.

Living a life with as few terms as possible. You have been a beacon to many. I will miss your smiles at reunions and those chance meetings. Look down and laugh at us all….we’ll meet again in the ever after. To the family, I know you are missing a large part of your life. Martha was the filling in your lives. Martha and I go all the way back to elementary school. Martha was a friend that no matter how much time would pass by between our seeing each other it was as if it had been only yesterday. She was there for me during one of the hardest times of my life just a little over a year ago when I lost my dad and I will never forget that and will love her forever for that. Then four months later she messaged me on fb to tell me that she was sick and going into the hospital the next day and instructed me not to say a word and I didnt. I thought she was joking because I had just seen her and she seemed fine. This can’t be real I thought not Martha not my friend. Then I resigned myself to the fact that she would be okay she would beat this because if anyone could beat this it would be Martha Jane. For reasons we can’t understand God had a different plan for her and some how we have to keep living. That’s what Martha would want. She has left so many positive marks on so many who continue to love her and miss her till that day comes that we never have to experience grief ever again. Erin you were chosen and blessed to have Martha for your precious mom. Tom you were also blessed to have Martha as your wife and best friend all these years. I pray that God will wrap his arms around your family and hold you up and comfort you in the coming days weeks months and years. I love you my friend and I will remember you with fond memories that will forever be in my heart.

I don’t know you Kathi but I say to you that you and I knew Martha in the same way. Thank you for expressing “our” feelings so beautifully.
My love for Martha was ignited by her extraordinary Mom, my dear friend Susan – both now in God’s loving arms.

  11. Martha–so glad I got to see you one last time, to chat on the phone as if no time had passed. Friends from 6th grade…forever in my heart. You are missed.

I went to school with Martha, and our mothers were friends. Both Martha and her mom had such unique senses of humor and I loved being around them. Martha was so smart and wickedly funny and could always find the joy in a situation. I’m so sorry for your loss, as I know this will be felt forever. Her love will always be with you.
