Martha Jane Begin
1945-2023
Martha Jane Begin, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully on October 12, 2023, at the age of 78. Born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on January 25, 1945, Martha was the daughter of Shelby and Estalene Tackett. She grew up alongside her older sister Melba Hooten and older brother Ray Tackett.
Martha was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, and was very active in her faith, serving as the wife of both a minister and elder, teaching, attending women’s bible studies, encouragement, and benevolence, most recently here in Edmond. Since their first date on March 6, 1965, and their wedding on August 28, 1965, Martha absolutely captivated her husband Jim, and they shared over 58 years of devoted marriage. They would go on to have a son, Eric, and daughter, Julie. She poured herself into raising and educating them in a loving, Christian home. Martha was a proud and doting “Nana” to her 5 grandchildren: Hunter, Josiah, Lily, Lydia, and Chloe.
Martha graduated Magna Cum Laude from Central State College and excelled in her public education career for over 23 years. She instituted a gifted program at Choctaw and worked for Seminole State College providing specialized mathematics instruction to area schools.
Martha enjoyed a variety of hobbies including games and extensive travel. However, she was the happiest when hosting or simply spending quality time with her family.
The family is at peace knowing she is enjoying her heavenly reward and reunion, despite their natural sense of loss.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one. May you find peace and comfort in the promises of our Heavenly Father Jehovah, as found in His Word the Bible, at Acts 24:15: “… there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.”, and Psalm 37:29: “The righteous will possess the earth, and they will live forever on it.” http://www.jw.org/What Hope for The Dead?
There are some who bring a light that even after they have gone, the light remains.🌟 To our beautiful precious sister in law. You will always be that special light. We are at peace knowing you are up above, in the land of no pain, fear, or tears. Until we meet again, just know you always made us feel loved in your presence ❤️⚘️

Martha was my cousin, we had many good times when we were kids growing up in Muskogee.
She always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. Martha married Jim and I married Jean, we always kept in touch the rest of our lives. Martha truly will be missed, but I know she is in God’s hands now. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jim, Eric and Julie. God Bless.
Len Harper.
Our thoughts are with you Jim and Eric and Julie’s families. We think of you and wonder about you and are thankful for the years of being friends and fun times while raising our kids. I guess that goes for most of us now. We are thankful for the good times and people we’ve had in our lives. Martha had the kindest soul.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Begin family at this time
The Bullock family and the Begin family have been friends for well over 50 years.
My fondest memories are when my parents and Jim and Martha went over to each others houses to play cards. My sister and I and Eric & Julie played games or watched tv.
May God continue to bless the Begin family

We were so blessed to have Martha as our neighbor. She was a very kind and gentle person. She always had a sweet smile and it was such a pleasure to visit with her. Joy and I will miss her.
To our dear friend Jim and his family, we send our deepest sympathy. Our prayers extend to all of you. We know even Jesus wept at the death of His friend, and we understand that this time of parting is bittersweet, filled with hope because Martha is with God, yet sadness that she is no longer in our presence. So we rejoice, pand also pray for God’s comfort for all of you.
Martha was the best wife, mother, grandmother, friend and Christian who modeled the golden rule. I was privileged to be married to her for 58 years. She was an absolute blessing to me and the children and grandchildren. Much as I miss her I find peace knowing she is alive in a better place and this gives me peace. Praise Almighty God!!!!!
Eric and Julie,
Bud and I were blessed to know your beautiful mother and your dad. His love and admiration for her was evident to us all. I truly respected the person she was, the grace that was exemplified by her presence. Our love and deepest sympathy to you and your families. We were blessed to know them as friends.
