Marquise J. Stewart

Marquise J. Stewart

1988-2021

Marquise J. Stewart was born August 11, 1988 and passed into the Lord’s arms January 30, 2021 at the age of 32.  Marquise battled kidney disease from birth and faced many challenges and a life-times worth of surgeries and medical procedures including three kidney transplants.  He faced these trials and struggles bravely and quietly never complaining.  Marquise always wanted the best for the other person and would give you the shirt off his back.  He brought laughter into a room and put a smile on your face. He proclaimed his belief in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior on his body with tattoos of a large cross, Japanese words “I am a soldier”, and his first tattoo “What will you say to God when you die?” Some of Marquise’s last words a week before his death were, “I am tired … I want to be free.”

Marquise faced life courageously and with a big heart.  Thank you to Dr.’s Scott and Shea Samara, Dr. Jose El-Amm and all those at Integris Medical Transplant Institute who cared tirelessly for Marquise for years.

He leaves behind his parents, Jim and Susan Stewart, brothers and their families, Matt Porter and Andrew Porter, grandparents, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, along with his family in Tulsa and many friends.  Marquise also leaves behind the love of his life, Titus James Stewart, his son, who gave him reason to keep fighting.  Marquise is now free and at peace with the Lord Jesus Christ.

A celebration of life service will be held, Friday, February 5th, 1:00 p.m. at Crossings Community Church, 14600 N. Portland Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73134.

My daughter Emily went to school & Crossings with Marquise. Emily had a swim birthday party @ her grandparents one August and I remember how hysterical & fun he was @ that party, so long ago. Marquise was always so polite and sweet the times I was around him. May the Lord comfort you as only He can during the loss of a child. Marquise will be remembered fondly.

      Angie,

Thank you so much for your kind words about Marquise.

I actually remember Marquise going to that swim party. I am so glad you were able to enjoy the humor and fun that Marquise personified.

Our hearts are really hurting but our comfort comes in remembering how Marquise loved well and that one day we will be together again.

Jim and Susan, I’m so, so very sorry for your great loss. I always enjoyed talking with Marquise when he came to the office to see his dad. While Marquise’s struggles were great and painful, he ALWAYS was surrounded by your love. What a gift you were able to provide to him. Your family will be in my prayers.

      Margie,

I am just now reading your dear message to us. I apologize but we have emotionally had to take it slow in responding to the outpouring of love for Marquise. Your words mean so much to us. Thank you and Water4 for the beautiful lillies and the message you sent with them. It truly touched our hearts and the beautiful aroma of the lillies did remind us of Marquise every time we walked past the gorgeous bouquet.
Thank you for your prayers and thoughtfulness during this very difficult time.
      Much love,
      Susan and Jim
