Mark Allen Doberenz
1960-2023
Mark Allen Doberenz of Edmond, OK was a beloved husband, father, uncle and friend. He was born July 25th, 1960, in Portland, Oregon to Floyd and Opal Doberenz. Mark passed away from a heart attack on August 10th, 2023. He was surrounded by his church family in his last moments.
Mark graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School in 1978. He graduated with honors at Concordia University Portland in 2011.
Mark technically met his wife Dawn at Camp Yamhill in 1977 when he was a counselor and Dawn was a camper. Years later, in 1994, Mark and Dawn started dating after reuniting in adulthood at Metro Church of Christ in Gresham, Oregon. They married on June 23rd, 1995.
Known for working in several different careers throughout his life, Mark was most remembered for his time with Moyer’s Christian Bookstore from 2004 to 2010. As owner of Moyer’s, he built relationships with people and churches across the West Coast, impacting thousands of people.
Mark was an active member of the church of Christ since childhood. He and his family attended Metro church of Christ for more than 25 years where he was involved in many activities and ministries. After moving to Oklahoma in 2020, Mark was honored to be appointed as an Elder at the Heritage church of Christ. He was involved in many forms of outreach including work with the young adults, founding the Heritage Haulers moving group, Connection Groups and the beloved softball team.
It is safe to say that Mark never met a stranger. He was personable to everyone he met and made people feel valued and important. This skill helped him excel in sales, but more importantly, it helped him excel in making a difference in the lives of everyone he met. And Mark always taught his sons to “exceed expectations.”
Mark is survived by his wife Dawn, his sons Jake and Kenny, and his brothers Terry and Phil. He is preceded in death by his father and mother.
Services will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Memorial Road Church of Christ 2221 E Memorial Road Edmond, OK 73013. You will be able to live stream the service online at edmondheritage.church
