Marjorie Ruth Jefferson Fugate “Marj”
1939-2021
Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Marjorie Ruth Jefferson Fugate’s love for her family will forever be remembered. After a short illness, she passed away peacefully on July 28, 2021 at the age of 82.
Marjorie, born on April 6, 1939, grew up on a farm in Franklin, TN. As the youngest of twelve children, she was well-cared for and loved by her parents and older siblings. As fate would provide, Marj met the love of her life, Bob, on a blind date. After a brief period, they were married in 1960 and spent 60 happy years together. During their life together, they raised two children and adored two granddaughters. Together they had the opportunity to travel in the US, Europe and the Bahamas, while making their home in several states, including Tennessee, Illinois, Wisconsin and finally settling in Edmond, Oklahoma. Marj was a member of Quail Springs Baptist Church.
Marj worked in the banking industry until she decided to stay home to raise her young children. She lovingly taught them Christian values and to treat others with kindness and respect. There was always a good breakfast, including an occasional slice of chocolate cake, on the table before school and a smile to greet them when they got home. Marj loved children and being a mother. She volunteered her time tutoring children and teaching children’s Sunday school. As her children became more independent, she returned to banking while continuing to teach Sunday school. Her love for little ones never diminished.
After retirement, Marj enjoyed spending time with family, church, traveling, attending Bible Study Fellowship, and without question – spoiling her dog. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten. The legacy that she left behind will live on in her husband, children, grandchildren, and all of the other lives that she touched.
Marj was preceded in death by her parents Henry Brown Jefferson and Allein Elliott Jefferson, five sisters, and six brothers. She is survived by her husband, Robert Fugate of Edmond, OK, daughter Deanna (Jon) Warzel of Edmond, OK, son Steve Fugate (Susan Hinz) of McKinney, TX, and granddaughters Brooke Fugate of McKinney, TX and Liana Warzel of Edmond, OK.

A most precious Aunt .
Marj wrote the book on being a good neighbor. We have enjoyed being her neighbor for the past 35 years and will miss her so much. We send love and prayers to Bob, Deanna and Steve.
My Aunt Margie was so kind to me. She was just an all around lovely person. Bob, Deanna, and Steve: I wish that I could be there for the service but my heart is with you. Love, Rebecca (Fugate)
