Marilyn Joyce Beuchaw

1937-2023

Marilyn Joyce (Heidebrecht) Beuchaw of Edmond, Oklahoma, was born May 17, 1937, in Chinook, Montana, and died Oct.14, 2023, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 86. Marilyn was the daughter of Daniel C. Heidebrecht and Katherine (Janzen) Heidebrecht and youngest of six children. The family moved from Chinook, Montana, in 1939 to Corn, Oklahoma, where she graduated from high school in 1954 as class valedictorian. Growing up, she worked in the cotton fields and while in high school, she worked at Tena’s Cafe and in local doctor, Doc Schlicting’s, office. After graduating high school, she substitute taught home economics at the Corn school, then went to live with her sister Erna in Amarillo. Moving to Oklahoma City, where her brother Robert “Bob” and wife Norma lived, she attended Blackwood Business College. Upon graduation, her first interview was with General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC). She was offered and accepted the job, where she stayed her entire career, making many lifelong friends.

Through a mutual friend, she met her future husband, Eddie, in 1963, and they were married April 10, 1964. Her first-born son, Brian, was born in 1965, and her second son, Craig, in 1968. After taking some years off from work to raise the boys, she returned to work at GMAC until her retirement in 1992.

Marilyn was a longtime member of Village Christian Church and made many friends there, as well as at the Oklahoma City Women’s Dinner Club, which she always looked forward to attending. She enjoyed reading books of all genres, piecing together jigsaw puzzles, and get-togethers with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie (married 48 years); her siblings, Ervin Heidebrecht, Erna Heidebrecht, and Evelyn Heidebrecht; and niece Linda Klepper. She is survived by her sons Brian (Sharon) of Oklahoma City and Craig (Melody) of Edmond; and, siblings Norma Carolyn of Puyallup, Washington, and Robert Heidebrecht of Oklahoma City; nephew Dan Heidebrecht (Suzanne Heinrichs); and, nieces Karen Gentry (Rob), Cecelia Hunter (Jim), Katrina Holt and Lori Rhoads.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 28, at Village Christian Church, 9401 Ridgeview Dr., Oklahoma City, 73120. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Village Christian Church. Services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Marilyn. I lived next door to her and Eddie for many years when I was growing up. Lots of wonderful memories. My thoughts to Brian and Craig and the rest of the family.

We had the pleasure and honor having Miss Marilyn, as we affectionately called her, as a neighbor. We moved in next door in 2015 and she was the first one to welcome us to the neighborhood. We were blessed to know her. Our thoughts and prayers are with her two sons and her family and friends.
