butler marie picLula Marie Butler (Thornton) passed from this earthly home to be reunited with her Lord and Savior and also James E., her husband and best friend of 69 years. Marie passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2014 in Edmond, OK.

Marie was born in Loveland, OK (Tillman CO) on September 24, 1919. She and James E. Butler Sr. were married on November 20, 1939. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James E. Butler, an infant daughter, Donna Beth, 3 brothers and 1 sister. Marie was a true and faithful member of the Wilshire Church of Christ.

Marie was a woman of many talents and skills from driving a grain truck, a certified welder, picking cotton, insurance agent to a respected supervisor at the Oklahoma Tax Commission from which she resigned May 1985.  Marie loved sports: Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Oklahoma Sooners, and the Thunder. She also enjoyed attending many sporting events with Big D to watch her grandchildren compete.

Marie was a blessing to all those who knew her and a great friend to so many. We love you “Big Ma” but are so happy that you and “Big D” are together walking; talking, laughing and holding hands like you did for so many wonderful years before. Contributions can be made in Marie’s name to “Search of the Lord’s Way”.
