Margaret Maxine Ward
1925-2017
On Sunday, October 22, 2017, Maxine Ward, 92, of Edmond, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord and Savior after a brief illness. Maxine was born September 11, 1925 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to James Richard Lubbes and Amy Beck Lubbes.
She was married to Robert Owen Burks in February 1944, he died in 1957. She worked as a beautician for several years. She married Don Ward in November 1965 and moved to Bixby, Oklahoma. She remained a faithful member of 64 years supporting the Tulsa Central Congregation, Edmond Congregation, and First People Community of Christ. Maxine was ordained a priest in 2004 in Community of Christ Church and served in that office until her death.
Maxine is survived by her daughter, Amy Burks of Edmond, great-niece, Sharla Hardin and husband Ben, nephews, Dusty Ward and wife Kathy, Lance Ward and wife Sharon and many nieces and nephews and her church family.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Community of Christ Church in Edmond, OK.
