Margaret Marie Shanahan passed away February 26, 2013. Margaret, or Marty, was born September 17, 1936 in Kansas City, Missouri to Dorothy and Virgil Langley. She graduated from Westpoint High School in Kansas City in 1954. She was married to Deane C. Shanahan on July 26, 1958 and had five children: Kevin, Eileen, Terri, Tim, and Tom. As an Air Force family, Marty and Deane and their children lived in several locations calling Panama City, FL their main home base. For the past 13 years Marty and Deane have lived in Edmond, OK. Marty lived at Grace Living Center battling Alzheimer’s with the loving support and faithful attention of her husband Deane. Margaret is survived by her husband Deane; children Kevin Shanahan, Eileen Witt, Terri and Wayne Potter, Tim and Carol Shanahan, and Tom and Amanda Shanahan; grandchildren, Dawn, Meagan, Erin, Candace, Corey, Logan, Katlyn, Casey, Michael, Kristy, Russell, and Thomas; great-grandchildren: Ryan, Madison, Kylah, Austin, Tatum, Kelsie, and Connor; brothers and in-laws: Tom and MaryAnn Langley, Ken Langley, and Monty and Cookie Shanahan; and many nieces and nephews. Her sisters Marge and Virginia preceded Marty in death. Margaret was a loving wife, a caring and supportive mother and grandmother, who not only listened with her ears but also with her heart. A memorial service for Margaret will be held at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church in Oklahoma City on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 10 a.m. Her body has been cremated and her ashes will be treated according to her and her family’s wishes. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in Margaret’s name to the charity or organization of your choice.
