Margaret Elizabeth Heitmann

Margaret Elizabeth Heitmann

1940 – 2024

Margaret Elizabeth (MacArthur) Heitmann was born August 30, 1940, in Topeka, KS to James and Eva MacArthur. She passed on to her eternal reward April 5, 2024.

Margaret was the middle of three children between older sister Edith (MacArthur) Bronson and younger brother Robert MacArthur. She attended a one room schoolhouse through 8th grade and attended Seaman High School in Topeka where she played drums in the band. Margaret completed her education at Washburn University by obtaining a degree in Elementary Education and went on to teach in Jefferson County, CO, Topeka, KS and Omaha, NE.

On June 10, 1962, Margaret married the love of her life and best friend, Dennis G. Heitmann. Together Dennis and Margaret worked alongside each other to serve churches in Topeka, KS, Omaha, NE, Champaign, IL, Arvada, CO, Fairfax, VA and Edmond, OK. She tirelessly taught children’s Bible classes, volunteered for VBS, served as an elder’s wife, was heavily involved in women’s ministry, went on mission trips to New Zealand and Kenya and prepared countless meals for neighbors, firefighters, and church families.

Dennis and Margaret were blessed with 61 3/4th years of marriage.

God blessed their marriage with two sons and daughters in love, Scott and Shani Heitmann and Steven and Katrina Heitmann, both of Edmond, Oklahoma. Margaret adored, and was so very proud of, her five amazing grandchildren Quilan, Camyll, Kathryn, Austin, and Matthew Heitmann. She loved to attend their music and sporting events but treasured most watching each of them being baptized into Christ. While her family misses her greatly this side of Heaven, we all look forward to the time when we will get to “meet her there” and be together again.

In addition to her family, Margaret had many treasured friends throughout the years that she considered family. Especially dear was their “Circle of Love” group that committed to praying for each other’s children daily and continued that commitment as each grandchild was added to the families.

The family would like to thank Complete OK Hospice for their sweet care for Margaret during her last days with us.

Because of Margaret’s love for Christian education, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Oklahoma Christian University to fund scholarships for education majors.

Services will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Road Church of Christ in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Dennis and Margaret were such good friends of Ruthann and me. We traveled together, taught classes together, and shared life together for many years. We had such an admiration for them that we selected them to be the parents of our children in case something happened to us. Dennis and Margaret served the Lord in so many special ways some of which are in Margaret’s obituary while others are only known by the Lord. Dennis has been such a servant and took the “loving in sickness and health” promise very seriously. God bless you Dennis as you continue on in the next chapter of your life.
    Keep on keeping on!
