Lucy “Margaret” Clark

1940 – 2019

Lucy Margaret Clark was born February 12, 1940 in Enid, OK and she died in Edmond, OK and Entered Heaven’s gates on April 24, 2019. She was the youngest of five children born to John James and Elizabeth Catherine (Jacoby) Holland.  Margaret graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Wichita, KS in 1957 and married her high school sweetheart John Leonard Clark, Jr (Jack) April 23, 1961 following his return from the Navy.  She studied accounting at Central State University and later retired from the State of Oklahoma, Child Study Center.  With her great sense of humor she was always making people laugh and her encouragement of kindness was highlighted by her favorite song “You Are My Sunshine”. She loved to travel including many trips with family throughout the United States and one of her favorite trips being an extended European vacation; but she also enjoyed the peacefulness of sewing, reading, and watching old movies.  Margaret was a loving mother and a very special “Auma” to her 9 grandchildren and 7 great – grandchildren.  Throughout Margaret’s life, her devotion to her Catholic faith meant everything to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth Holland; brothers, Jack and wife Jean Holland; Richard Holland and life partner Corky Dipman; Bert and wife Nancy Holland; her sister Rose Mary and husband Carl “Mac” McAllister. She is survived by  her former husband, Jack Clark; her daughters Dana and husband Rick Sykora, with grandchildren Ashley and Austin; Cathy and husband Tony Welch, with grandchildren Axel and Hudson; her sons Jay and Debbie Clark with grandchildren, David and Dustin; Brian and wife Debbie Clark with granddaughter, Brandy Thompson, great-grandchildren, Bailey and Brooke; granddaughter Sasha and husband Tristun Alexander and great-grandchildren, Blaine, Brayden, and Breece; grandson Jared Hughes and Toni Cartier with great-grandchildren Bekam and Boston, along with her many more beloved nieces and nephews and their families.  She was very lucky to have such a large and loving family.

We would like to thank the many special angels on earth who cared for her at Eden Care Home in Edmond. Alzheimer’s took the memories of her life but thanks to all of you and your help in caring for her, she always felt loved.

A wake service in memory of Lucy Margaret will be held at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond of Friday, May 3rd from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist in Edmond on Saturday, May 4th at 2:30 p.m.  Graveside services will be held at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City.  In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Oklahoma Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.  Until we meet again.

Margaret was a dear friend in Wichita during our childhood and (sometimes wild) teenage years. Despite her health, she never lost her sense of humor and remained a joyful presence. RIP, Lucy Margaret.
