Lucille “Lucy” Moss
1918-2016
Lucille (Lucy) T. Moss, 97, longtime resident of Edmond, went to be with the Lord July 7, 2016. Lucy was born August 7, 1918 In Kingdom Springs, AR to James and Beaulah Trease. She married Charles L. Moss in Edmond June 10, 1949. Lucy was a founding member of the Edmond Art Association, a member of the Edmond First Baptist Church for over sixty years, but her greatest joy was her family.
Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, 2 brothers, 4 sisters, and daughter-in-law Kaye Moss. She is survived by sons, Jimmy, Greg and wife Jeannie, Phil and wife Peggy, Kevin and wife Pat; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Formal visitation will be Sunday, July 10, 2016 at Matthews Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery Edmond, OK.

Greg, Jimmy, Phil and Kevin, I was so sorry to read of your mom’s passing. Please accept my sincere condolences. I remember a lot of good times on 13th street.
I could go on forever about what Lucy meant to my family and me, but I’ll just say this: I don’t think I’ve known anyone like her, and doubt that I ever will. Funny, kind, smart, caring – all to the Nth Degree. And no one makes pancakes and waffles like she did!
I’m glad that Cathy and I had a chance to see her one last time when we we were in town a couple of months ago. After we visited, we walked with her to the dining room of her assisted living facility.
When she sat down, she looked at the others at her table and said, “I want you to meet Jay Frank and his wife Cathy. They live in Houston……Jay was my fifth son.”
We smiled and said so long. But had I not choked up I would have added one thing: “Lucy was my second mom.” I’m sure my brother Harry would agree.
Condolences to Jim, Greg, Phil and Kevin, and to your kids, grandkids, relatives and friends. And thank you for letting us be part of your family for nearly 60 years.
When my son John was in the 7th grade, he wrote an essay about the strong women in our family. Aunt Lucy was his primary example. She did not tolerate foolish hypocrisy and was a strong defender of ALL the members of her family. The Trease brothers and sisters are all together again.
Rest now Aunt Lucy. I’m going to miss my Friday’s with you. And will miss the Milky Way candy bars we shared and the jokes.
A golden heart stopped beating,
hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.

What a treasure and joy she was! She was my great-grandmother’s (Granny Bea) youngest sister. She had an undying love for her family that was never tested for she loved unconditionally. Heaven gained another angel and we gained another guardian over us. Rest in Peace Aunt Lucy.

I met Lucy when she was a resident Sterling House on Kelly. I conducted devotionals for a short period and Lucy would occasionally attend. I remember Lucy because she gave me a garden recipe with a scripture associated with each ingredient.

This message is placed here for my mother, Juanita R, Hawkins. She and Mrs. Moss were long time friends at Edmond FBC. Even after my parents moved to Goodlettsville, TN she and Mrs. Moss continued to correspond by mail. Mother had not heard from her in awhile and so I was occasionally checking the Internet for her name. My mother wishes to express her sympathy to the Moss family in the loss of her dear friend.
