Luan Brown BoggsBoggs, Luan

1927-2016

Oct 1, 1927 – Mar 27, 2016

Luan, so precious to so many, died at midnight Easter Sunday. She was 88. She and her husband, Frank, were married 67 years.

Luan is also survived by her son, Brian, his wife Susan and their daughter, Emma, a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps; by her daughter, Brenda Williams and her husband, Steve, and their sons, Corey and his wife, Deandra and their twins, Brenlee and Raylynn; and Cameron, also a Sergeant in the Marines and a veteran of the Iraq War; and by a special niece, Karen Blackburn and her husband Hal; and her nephew, Bobby Ray.

Luan was born in Oklahoma City to R. Ben and Nora Brown. She attended Central High School, Oklahoma College for Women and The University of Oklahoma.

Most of her life was enjoyed in Oklahoma City and Edmond, but she also followed Frank in his newspaper career at Topeka, Dallas, San Diego and Colorado Springs.

She read thousands of books and kept, in a prominent place in her library, The Story of Heidi, which she received as a special gift for her fifth birthday.

Among things she enjoyed so much were those years she owned Luan’s Booktown in Edmond; the thousands of hours as a volunteer in the Chaplains office at Children’s Hospital; her six trips to the England she so admired and the wonderful friends she loved, such as Bettye Ferguson.

Luan’s immediate family will observe her burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond.

The beautiful memories she gave us never will fade and those of us who loved her so dearly are consoled with knowing she was absolutely perfect. In every way.

Luanne was a dear friend, who worked with me on elections. Her book store was a very friendly competitor to my wife Doris’ Book Rack. We extend our sincere condolences to her family. She will be greatly missed.
