1947-2019
Lonnie Dale Elmore passed away in his home on May 31, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.
He married the love of his life, Carlene, in Stratford, Oklahoma on May 20, 1966. He joined the United States Navy later that year. Following his Aviation training in Millington, Tennessee, he was stationed at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Florida. Lonnie served on the USS Forestall, as well as the USS Intrepid. He received an honorable discharge and a Letter of Valor for his service aboard the USS Intrepid.
After serving his country, he returned to his employment with The City of Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation Department. He retired from The City of Oklahoma City as a Unit Manager with 31 years of service. Lonnie started his small family business, Elmore Irrigation, in 1972 and continued throughout 2010. He loved his work and through his work made many loyal friends and business acquaintances.
Lonnie was a beloved son, husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James and Jewell Elmore and beloved brother, Richard Elmore.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carlene; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jeff Green; son, Chad Elmore; five grandsons, Brantly Elmore, Tyler Huston, Mac Elmore, Rucks Elmore, Edward Elmore and great grandson, Cash Huston; as well as many extended family members and friends.
A heartfelt special appreciation to Gayla Kennemer, whose family has been in our lives for 40 years. She was his caregiver and nurse who also became his best friend throughout this long journey.
In honor of Lonnie’s wishes, no services are being held. There will be a private memorial in his honor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1-800-272-3900.

Carlene please forgive me for not being a good nephew. I love you and Lonnie and I should have been there for you. You were both there for me . Im so sorry I don’t have an excuse. Tell Lisa and Chad I love them . Your nephew. Phil
