Lise Finley

Finley, Lise Obit PicLise Finley

1967 – 2020

On Wednesday, December 02, 2020, Lise Finley, beloved mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, and fiancé, passed away at the age of 53.

Lise was born November 16, 1967, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Lindell and Jean Stevens. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Education, from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma. She received her Master of Education in Education Administration, Curriculum, and Supervision from the University of Oklahoma, in Norman, Oklahoma.  She spent her career in education striving to make a difference in the lives of her students. She met and married Brian Finley, whom preceded her in death in 2010. They lived in Edmond, Oklahoma, and raised their daughters Pyper Finley Wood and Blaike Finley. She was very involved in her daughters’ lives and loved spending time with them.

She enjoyed volunteering and was very involved with the nonprofit, Pellow Outreach, Inc. She was a Netflix aficionado, and enjoyed binge watching shows and movies to discuss with her family.  After her daughters left the nest, she babied her dogs, Toto and Peanut, and took them everywhere with her. She enjoyed spending weekends at the lake with her fiancé, Joe Pellow, and the dogs. They enjoyed traveling and the beach.  Her favorite meal was a banana split from Braum’s, with chocolate ice cream on both ends with marshmallow topping, and strawberry on strawberry in the middle—no nuts!

Lise is preceded in death by her husband, Brian Finley, and her grandparents, John and Geneva Stevens.  She is survived by her parents, Lindell and Jean Stevens, her daughters Pyper Finley Wood (Austin) and Blaike Finley, her granddaughter, Rhett Wood (Pyper), her fiancé, Joe Pellow, her sister, Lynn Barrett (Todd), her niece, Morgan Barrett, and her dogs, Toto and Peanut.

The family is holding a private service and asks for privacy during this difficult time.  In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to her favorite nonprofit, Pellow Outreach, Inc. 6601 NW 118th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73162 or PellowOutreach.org

This saddens my heart. She motivated me to get up and go to school. She was always there for her students. Anything you needed or if you needed to talk she was there to help you. Always ready to put herself last and others first. I admired her for that. I considered her my second mom. She touched my life in so many ways. Fly high Mrs. Finley you won’t be forgotten. You were a blessing and I am so glad I got the opportunity to be around you. Much love and you will be remembered ?

I am deeply saddened. I became a teacher because of Lise. I was a communication major and she talked me into going into education so we could spend summers going to the lake. She was the very first person I met at UCO and my best friend all through college. Of course we ended up in different cities and kids happened. We only talked on Facebook lately and I deeply regret that. I will always remember her fun personality , our amazing college days and our road trips. I will be praying for you all.
    Love,
    Brenda Robinson

I had the distinct honor or working daily with Lise during my time at PCN, 2000-2003. She made the world a better place! There is now a void due to her absence.
I offer my most humble condolences to the family!
