Linda Gale Ellis

1944-2023

Linda Gale Ellis, 79, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away on July 12, 2023. 

Linda was born in Houston, Texas, on March 27, 1944.  Linda grew up with her parents, Calvin Magruder King and Helen Louise (Coward) King and three siblings.  Linda graduated from Fort Smith Northside High School and Oklahoma Baptist University. 

Linda married Reverend Gary Lee Ellis on April 24, 1965.  Linda served alongside Gary throughout his ministry, studying God’s Word and spending time with her Sunday School class.  Professionally, Linda worked as a typist, secretary, and public educator.  Linda was passionate about public education and teaching struggling students to improve their skills.  Linda enjoyed working in her flowerbeds, gardening and organizing.  Linda loved her cat, Oreo. 

Gary and Linda had two children: Mark and Stephen.  Linda is survived by her two sons and their wives, Mark and Christa Ellis and Stephen and Kristen Ellis; grandchildren, Kyla and her husband Garrett Woodbridge, Bethany, Karli and Brooklyn Ellis, all of Edmond; and her siblings, Peggy, David and his wife Janet, and Dennis and his wife Roxanna King of Fort Smith, Arkansas. 

Viewing will be available from 4:00-8:00 PM at Matthews Funeral Home on Friday, July 21.  Funeral Services for Linda will be at Matthews Funeral Home at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 22.  Linda will be laid to rest at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond, Oklahoma.  In place of flowers, the family requests you consider donating to the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children.
