Lawrence Lee “Bud” Zielny

March 5, 1926 – August 9, 2015

Zielny, LawrencyBud Zielny was born in Britton, OK, to Mike and Margaret (Lewandowski) Zielny and raised on the Zielny Dairy Farm.  He graduated from John Carroll Catholic High School in 1944.  From 1944 to 1945 he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and later earned his pilot’s license.

On Sep 27, 1948, he married Margaret Rose Furlong and moved to a farm near Cashion, raising wheat and cattle for 40 years.  In 1955 he also went to work for Aero Commander/Gulfstream, retiring in 1988.

Bud loved his roses, feeding and watching birds and working on projects around the house.

On Sunday, Bud rejoined his wife, son Larry, parents, and sisters Claudine Griffin & Joyce Goodall.  He is survived by siblings William and Jerry Lou, his children Johnny & Linda Zielny, Mitzi & John Whetsel, and James Zielny, eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many family members and friends.

A special thanks to caregiver Michelle Frejoe, Companion Home Health, Donnie Wright, Gerald Goodall and especially James Zielny for the special care they gave Bud.

Donations are encouraged to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Bud’s name.

Visitation Thursday.  Rosary 7:00 pm at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral Mass 10:00 am Friday at St John’s Catholic Church, 901 S. Boulevard, Edmond.

    I am so sorry for your loss, my heart is heavy for you all. May it comfort you to know that Bud & Margaret Rose are together again looking down and nodding with approval. May your faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ comfort in these difficult time. God Bless you all.
