LaVerne (Cosgrove) Custer was born November 19, 1925, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She passed from this life to the next on December 26, 2015. LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Clifford and Glenna Cosgrove, and five brothers; Roy David, Otis Cecil, Owen Glenn, Donald Eugene, and Charles Ray Cosgrove. She is survived by her precious husband of seventy years, Charles Stanton Custer, of the home, and three children and their families; Randy and Nancy, PawPaw, Michigan; Jan and Charles (Wetsel), Edmond; and Craig and LaNita, Marlow. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Jonathan Wetsel, Oklahoma City, Jared Wetsel, ElReno, Ty (Emily) Custer, Edmond, and Ally and Toby Custer, Marlow. Survivors also include a brother, Melvin Neal, and many nieces and nephews.
LaVerne was a long-time member of the Boulevard Church of Christ, where she taught Bible classes from preschool through adults. A licensed realtor, LaVerne loved gardening and reading.
Services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, December 31, at the Boulevard Church of Christ. The family would like to thank her caregivers at the Fountains at Canterbury, and the Integris Hospice nurses who so lovingly cared for her during the final weeks of her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, the Integris Hospice House, or the charity of your choice.
