1947 – 2022
Larry Steven Hays was born in Clinton, OK to Charles Lee and Clara Madge (Phifer) Hays.
He graduated from Clinton High School in 1966. In high school, he was in FFA and showed Black Angus steers. He earned his way to Nationals in Kansas City and was awarded the coveted American Star Farmer. He graduated from Southwestern State College of Pharmacy, Weatherford, OK, (now SWOSU) in 1971. Being a Doctor of Pharmacy was his calling. Over his 40-year career, he worked in all areas including retail, relief, hospital, and compounding. Retail was his favorite. It allowed him to interact with people and see them feel better. This especially was true when he owned Santa Fe Drug in Edmond, OK. He also was licensed as a Pharmacist Preceptor. He welcomed and enjoyed working with his pharmacist-interns as he supervised them during their retail rotations.
Larry, and his wife, Suzanne, married at Britton Christian Church in Oklahoma City. They made their home in Edmond, OK. They loved to travel and attend OSU football games. Two of their favorite vacation spots were Sedona, AZ and Lake Tahoe. He was a great handyman and could fix anything, even if it was just with duct tape. He liked sports cars, especially Corvettes, and his Silverado trucks. He loved his country and was a true patriot. But, most importantly, he knew Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Harold and Lavada Moffatt, and brother-in-law, Dr. Thomas B. Colbert.
He is survived by his wife, Suzzi; brother-in-law, Dr. H. Dyke Moffatt and wife, Geri; sister-in-law, P.J. Joslin, and husband, Doug; niece, Jennifer O’Hagan and husband, Doyle, and their children, Seth, Sara, Sage, and Guinnevere; nephew, Wesley Moffatt and wife, Timi, and their sons, Michael and Jackson; nephew, Matthew Colbert; niece, Chelsey Matthews and husband, Kris, and their sons, Colton and Cannon; several cousins and their families.
