Larry Layne Bledsoe
January 29, 1938 – October 15, 2021
Larry Layne Bledsoe was born to William Frank Bledsoe and Opal Lattimore Bledsoe in Oklahoma City, OK on January 29th, 1938. He died on October 15, 2021 in Oklahoma City, OK.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Nanette Choice Bledsoe, one daughter from a previous marriage, Tiffany Bledsoe Murray and 2 grandchildren, Graham Murray and Bennett Murray.
A lifetime resident of Oklahoma City, Larry attended Whittier Grade School, Taft Middle School and high school at both Classen and Northwest Classen. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. While attending the University of Oklahoma, Larry was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity where he began a long friendship with Curt Schwartz. The two formed a popular comedy team and performed often at special events in Oklahoma, including The Sooner Scandals at OU and at events in Colorado and New York. While in New York City they performed several times at the famous comedy club “The Bitter End”.
After moving on to separate careers they continued emceeing various events together until Curt’s death in 1985. Larry enjoyed a career in advertising and public relations through The Bledsoe Agency and his partnership with the firm of Bledsoe, Norick, and McAuliffe. A longtime member of the Rotary Club of Oklahoma City, he served as President of the organization in 2002-03. Always involved in community and civic work, Larry was proud of his involvement in the establishment the first Memorial Marathon. Later in his career he served as Vice-President of Marketing and PR at Union Bank. In keeping with his love of performing, Larry could often be seen or heard in television and radio commercials. He was Co-Host of KWTV’s syndicated Bingo mania and also served as Co-Host with Kerry Robertson Kerby of KWTV’s Morning Show.
Nanette is very grateful to their church family at the Memorial Road Church of Christ for their constant support. A special thank you also to Humanity Hospice and South Pointe Rehab and Care Center.
A memorial service will be held at the Memorial Road Church of Christ 2221 E. Memorial Rd., Edmond, OK at 10:00 AM on October 20, 2021.
