1938-2024

Lannie David Weiss, 85, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at his home. Lannie was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on March 6, 1938 to Lawrence and Elsie Weiss. He attended the Normal School in Edmond.

Lannie worked in the machine shop for Macklanburg-Duncan for 49 years with his identical twin Larry. After his retirement, Lannie, Larry and friends restored a 1926 Buick that he showed in many car shows. His great grandson gave him the nickname of GP Hot Rod. He was a member of the National Street Rod Association and Edmond Old School Cruisers. Lannie was a member of the Edmond Church of Christ.

Lannie is survived by his son David Weiss and wife Linda of Macomb, Oklahoma, son Jason Weiss of Edmond, Oklahoma, Grandson Jonathan Weiss and wife Kinzie of High Springs, Florida, Grandson Andrew Weiss and wife Jordan of Wynnewood, Oklahoma, Great Grandchildren Carson Weiss, Jasper
Weiss, Adelyn Weiss, and Preston Weiss, and by many other family members and friends.

Lannie is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Louise Perry, Shirley Smeltzer, Merrilea Smith, Charles Weiss, Ernest “Pud” Weiss and Larry Weiss. Lannie was cherished by his many nieces and nephews; he loved giving everyone a nickname. He will be missed by everyone who knew him and his legacy of kindness, generosity, and faith leaves a way of life we all can look up to.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 19, 2024 at Edmond Church of Christ.

    When I saw Lannie out & about, I always told him that I could tell him apart from twin Lonnie. And HE always answered that it was because he was the better looking of the two. That was our greeting to each other. Doesn’t that sound just like him?? Hugs to the family.
