LaDora Pollard
1938-2024


LaDora Pollard went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, after several years of declining health.
LaDora was born on May 14, 1939, in Bower, Oklahoma to James Russell and Thelma Self, both deceased. LaDora was preceded in death by two brothers James Eugene and Michael Douglas Self. LaDora has one living sister Ella Mae Green and one living brother Jimmy Russell Self both of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Also surviving are her children Debra Lynne Pollard of Wichita, Kansas, Brenda LaFaye So and her husband Man Ki (Andy) of Wichita, Kansas, and Russell Ray Pollard of Guthrie, Oklahoma.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dr. SeeYin Shannon So and her husband Tyler Frank of Bellingham, Washington, Dak Yi Brandon So and wife Veronice of Halstead, Kansas, Caitlyn Rae Pollard, Gabrial Ray Pollard, Elizabeth Jane Pollard of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Aaron Shryock and wife Vanessa of Alaska.
LaDora is also survived by her great grandchildren Tuvia Zi-Sum So of Halstead, Kansas, Ella Shryock of Alaska, Mcgyvor Shryock, Dean Shryock of Alaska.
LaDora was an incredibly selfless, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to many. She will always be remembered for how she loved life and lived to the fullest. LaDora put her whole heart and passion into everything she did. She never met a stranger and always made everyone feel as though they were friends. Her beautiful, welcoming smile touched the hearts and lives of everyone she encountered. Her greatest joy came from serving Christ and sharing his love with her family and numerous others. She never hesitated to pray and comfort those who were hurting. LaDora was the life of the party and her spirit shined brighter than the sun. LaDora loved to play piano and sing gospel and spend time with friends playing games. Above all else, she was a faithful Christ follower and dedicated mother. LaDora will forever be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel Edmond, OK.
