1958-2014

Thionnet, KentKent Duane Thionnet, 56, of Edmond, was welcomed into Jesus’ arms on July 3, 2014. Born in Sentinel on February 12, 1958 to Frank and Mildred Thionnet, Kent was the third of four children. He was raised in Dill City and graduated from Laverne High School in 1976. Kent then attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University and later graduated with a B.S. degree in Business & Ethics.

In 1979 Kent married his high school sweetheart Debbie Lenz. Debbie was his wife, his friend, his confidant, and his levity amidst the chaos of life. Kent and Debbie were blessed with three wonderful children: Venus Danee, Quent Duane, and Chelsea Diane–all of whom Kent was immensely proud. They anchored his life and lifted his soul.

Kent was the epitome of a Godly man, a family man, a man worthy of admiration. He was not just a member of the church but rather an active leader that served as deacon, drove “his ladies” (elderly women) to Sunday services, and comforted all those in need. Kent and his family were members of First Baptist Church of Dill City, First Baptist Church of Laverne, First Baptist Church of Holdenville, Main Street Baptist Church of Stigler, and currently attend Oakdale Baptist Church of Edmond.

His wise-cracking, crooked smile welcomed you into an immediate friendship. To have been Kent’s friend was a gift in itself. Kent simply loved life; his family, his friends, golfing, ranching, gardening, and riding his Harley.

Kent spent his career working in the oil and gas business where he accomplished a great deal; none more important than the innumerable friendships forged. He was proud to have been recently promoted to Director of Asset Management at Enable Midstream Partners.

Kent was preceded in death by his father, Frank Thionnet. Kent is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Debbie; daughter and son-in-law, Venus and Daniel Belcher, of Keller, TX, children Sophia and Carsten; son and daughter-in-law, Quent and Gena Thionnet, of Watonga, children Brennon, Frankie, and Memphis; daughter Chelsea Thionnet of Dallas, TX; mother Mildred Thionnet of Duncan; brother Terry (Cherri) Thionnet of Petrolia, TX; sisters Carla (David) Ensey and Sandra (Ed) Hines of Duncan; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of Kent’s life will take place at Oakdale Baptist Church in Edmond on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City.

Perhaps God simply couldn’t wait any longer to bring such a special man into His kingdom.

    Kent was a childhood friend who I loved and enjoyed being around. All the kids on our block played basketball, ride bikes, just had fun being kids. As much as I hate that he is no longer here, I know he is my angel in heaven watching out for all of us. Keeping all if you in my prayers and thoughts I love each of you

    I have been blessed by the opportunity to have worked with Kent. He was always such a happily contagious person with everyone’s concerns a priority. I also worked with Quent at Calumet which makes this loss even more personal.

    I remember when Kent first came to Laverne High School and right away, you were the love of his life and you made a wonderful life together. I know you have lots of memories to cherish. Praying for God’s strength and comfort for all of you.

    I am so sorry for the loss of a special man Kent, husband, dad, grandpa and friend! Just talking to him a few weeks ago will be cherished. We talked of wanting to make plans of getting together. Celebrating our anniversaries together. It is true we never know when we will be called. Debbie our prayers and thoughts go out to you and your family during this time.

    Kent was truly a great friend, even being miles away he touched us and was always in our thoughts. He always took time for us with our family when we would show up in Oklahoma.

    I know Kent is riding high in the heavens.
