Kenneth Lee Helterbrand

Kenneth Lee Helterbrand

1933 – 2023

Kenneth Lee Helterbrand was born in McAlester, Oklahoma on March 2, 1933 and left this world to lead worship with the angels on March 17, 2023.  Ken was a successful local businessman, but his life’s work was the music of worship.  He began this work at age 14 and continued it for the next 70 years.  During those years, he also directed music for over 1000 weddings and funerals. Ken was nationally known for his ability to teach others the art of acapella singing though his Church Music Institute.  He was internationally known for his music work on the program “In Search of the Lord’s Way”.

Ken left this world to be reunited with his earthly sweetheart Marilyn Helterbrand.  The couple will reside in Heaven for eternity and continue to offer their worship before the throne of God.  They will also enjoy time with all the family and friends who preceded them to this heavenly destination. Ken is survived by his son Chris Helterbrand and wife Trina, his daughter Heather Fritsche and husband Steve Fritsche.  Ken also has 4 grandchildren Megan King and husband Dr. Kaleb King, Morgan Schmidt and husband Dr. Alex Schmidt, Emlyn Fritsche, and Travis Sablan.  He was very pleased to have known his great grandson Hudson Christopher King.

The family takes a moment to thank the ladies at the Integris hospice house. During Ken’s last days, they so delicately blurred the line between heaven and earth that the family could not help but be ok when the actual moment arrived.

There will be a memorial service for Ken on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Edmond Church of Christ.

  1. Never met Ken but I have enjoyed his positive influence upon the church program, In Search of the Lords Way. The worship music in each episode was a joy to listen to.
