1938 – 2023

Katherine Lavon Caywood passed away August 8th, 2023, with family by her side. Katherine was born December 6, 1938, in Marlow.  She was the daughter of Earl and Arcy (Thornton) Alsobrook.  She attended school in Bray and graduated from High School in 1956.

Katherine married Phillip Monroe Caywood on August 2, 1958.  They were married 51 years until Phil passed away in 2009.  They started their family in Chickasha and had 3 children.  Phil worked at the Post Office and Katherine stayed home to raise their children.  She loved being a mother.  Together they worked with the youth in the church.  They lived in Rush Springs until 2007 when they moved to Yukon to be closer to their children and grandchildren. 

Katherine loved planting flowers and cooking for her family.  She enjoyed listening to music, especially the piano, and watching old movies.  Through the years she carefully preserved the family history through pictures creating detailed scrapbooks.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.  She moved to Edmond in 2022 and made many new friends.

She is survived by her 3 children; son Tony Caywood and wife Pam of Muskogee, daughter Tammy McLain and husband Scott of Yukon and daughter Tonya Ridley and husband Tony of Edmond; 5 grandchildren, Josh Caywood and wife, Rebecca of Muskogee, Matt McLain and wife, Sarah of Piedmont, Melissa McLain of Kansas City, Kalei Snider and husband, Justin of Muskogee and Rhyder Jolliff of Muskogee; 9 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Bob Alsobrook of Oklahoma City and Jim Alsobrook of Lawton; and sister Patsy McFadden of Yukon, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, sister Earline Alsobrook, sister Jean Blundell, brother Joe Dean Alsobrook, sister Charlotte Alsobrook and sister Mary Shelton.

Public visitation will be held Sunday, August 13, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home with family present from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to greet friends and guests.

Services will be held Monday, August 14, 2023, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Westview Cemetery in Rush Springs, Oklahoma.
