Justin Thayer Houts

Justin Thayer Houts

1973-2019

Today we honor Justin Thayer Houts who passed away on April 26th, 2019. Justin was born in Oklahoma City on September 5th 1973 to James Thayer Houts, Jr. and Linda Kay Moore. Justin graduated from Edmond Memorial Highschool and Oklahoma State University.  Justin was a proud member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity where he forged lifelong friendships. He enjoyed sports especially golf and basketball.

Justin was preceded in death by his father Jim Houts. Justin is survived by his sons, Franklin Thayer Houts and Griffin Bruce Houts and step daughter Hannah Beeson; mother Linda Moore and stepfather Brad Moore, sister Courtney Voight and husband Erik; stepmother Donell Houts, stepbrother Cory Listen and wife Masey; and 4 nieces’, Ellee Listen, Avery Voight, Lainey Voight, and Hallie Voight.

Justin was uncommonly intentional. He was thoughtful and always was thinking of his family and friends with kind words and thoughtful gifts. Justin never spent any time complaining and never spoke harsh words towards anybody. Friends will always remember him for his infectious smile.

Justin was extremely loyal to his family and all of his many good friends, but Justin’s pride and joy and focus of his life are his 2 sons, Franklin and Griffin, who he enjoyed spending as much time with as possible.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday May 1, 2019 at Matthews Funeral Home, Chapel, Edmond, OK.

  1. I was blessed to meet Justin and see him yearly at Ellees Birthday party. He was a sweet and loving person. I am so sorry for the hurt the family is going through . My prayer for you all is that Gods comfort surround you. Nita Tillery

  2. To the family and friends of Justin. Words cannot express how sorry I am for your loss. Nothing can prepare us for the pain that comes from losing a loved one. Please know that the “God of all comfort “(2 Corinthians 1:3,4) sees your pain and longs to do something about it. The Bible gives us a hope for the future at Revelation 21:3,4 and John 5:28,29. May your precious memories give you strength and comfort during this very difficult time.
