Julie Marie Garrett

Julie Marie Garrett

1969-2024

Julie Marie Garrett, 55, of Edmond, passed away on September 10, 2024.

Julie was born on June 18, 1969, in Edmond, Oklahoma to Herbert and Alta Garrett.  She was the second of three children which included her older brother Dale and younger brother, Barry.  Her youth was spent growing up on the family farm tending to a multitude of animals.  She graduated from Guthrie High School in 1987.

In 1989, Julie started a 35-year career at the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.  She started as a Physical Evidence Technician and advanced to become the supervisor of the Physical Evidence Technician Unit.  She won numerous awards and commendations at the Bureau, including Employee of the Year.  Her friends and coworkers at the OSBI will dearly miss her contagious laugh, silly Halloween costumes and Hawaiian shirts.  She will also be remembered for her wonderful treats, and her ability to quietly show up when needed and fix whatever needed fixing, including muscle aches.

In 2006, Julie received her certification as a Massage Therapist.  Several clients, friends and family members received the benefits of her ability to walk up and find the exact spot to work on to relieve a sore muscle.  This was just one more way she was always showing up to help.  Whether it was during a remodel, working on a barn or babysitting little humans or animals, Julie was willing to lend a hand with most anything.

Julie’s other passions included traveling, skiing, sewing, collecting fossils and her dogs.

Julie is proceeded in death by her mother Alta and her grandparents, Ernest and Thelma Garrett and Wilford and Margaret Moberly.  She is survived by her dad, Herb, her brothers and their spouses, Dale and Tracey Garrett, and Barry and Stacey Garrett.  She is also survived by her numerous nieces and nephews, Jacob, Connor, Katelyn, Megan, Evan and Brenna.

Julie was loved by many and will be dearly missed by her friends, family and coworkers.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 27, 2024 at Waterloo Road Baptist Church with interment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery Edmond, OK.

Romany things bring back fond memories of Julie Marie. Cracker Barrel and the breakfasts we shared. Cardinals and the way they reminded us of our heavenly mothers. Dogs, her four leged fur babies. Teacups and her beauty. Disney and her whimsy.
Eternal rest grant her oh Lord and may perpetual light shine up on her.

Few people enter our lives whose sole purpose is to create harmony, exhibit compassion, and love unconditionally. That was Julie. She enriched my life and the lives of so many others. Her passing is a loss for all of us.

Julie, I love you my little friend. May God wrap his loving arms around you for eternity and bring you the peace you were seeking.
