Judy Ann King

1941-2024
Judy Ann King was born September 9, 1941, in Kansas City, Kansas to Charles and Beatrice (Overcash) Hobbs. She came from a very large family. Judy was the youngest of five siblings. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, one brother Howard and two sisters Jeanette and Marguerite who continually watched over her as a child and into eternity. She is survived by the love of her life Russell King, and one sister, Marie. The Hobbs had a family tradition which was getting the entire family together, and she continued that tradition until her death.
Judy graduated from Bishop Ward High School in Kansas City, Kansas where she played basketball and was also an avid skater. After high school she began working at AT&T as a high-speed teletype communicator until her beauty, and those natural dark curls caught the attention of Russell King back in the summer of 1959, they then spent the next 65 years loving one another.
Judy and Russell have four children, daughter Karen and her husband Bill, daughter Connie and her husband Jerry, son Shawn, son Ron and his wife Dawn. They have many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and she loved getting the entire family together as her love and devotion to her family was paramount, she was lovingly protective over all of them. She cherished her family vacations, especially the ones that included RV travels or just enjoying time at their home in Grand Lake. Her family kept her busy, but those moments were the highlights of her busy life.
Judy prided herself as being honest, generous, and a loving person but above all was her faith and support to her Catholic Church. Her conservative belief system, her protection of the unborn and her views on the right to live freely was a portrayal of her patriotic heart.
Judy and Russell shared a love twenty-four hours a day for more than six decades which is a testimony to how rooted their love and faith was, this is a tremendous loss for her family but also to everyone she touched. She will forever remain in our hearts as we hold onto those moments and the memories, we shared but remember we’re all heading for that same heavenly place; she just beat us there.
Until we see her again it’s time to say goodbye, but this is just her earthly goodbye. She will be standing at the gates of heaven ready to gather her family together again just like she loved to do here on earth.

Russ and Family,
We were so sorry and sad for your great loss of Judy. Judy was a nice and gracious woman. We have such fond memories of spending time with Judy and all the family at Grand Lake. Russ, you and Judy are a
testament of how wonderful a happy marriage can be. We wish the whole family strength and peace in the coming days. We regret we won’t be there for “Celebration of Life.” As we will be out of town. Our thoughts prayers are with you all.
