Joy Ann Daugherty, 87, of Edmond, OK, died Saturday, June 22, 2013 at her home after a lengthy illness. Joy, a native of Zanesville, OH and the youngest of four sisters, moved to Oklahoma in 1970 with her husband Paul. She was married to Paul for 32 years and traveled all over the world with their six children. Paul preceded Joy in death in 1977. She was a member of Santa Fe Presbyterian Church, Eastern Stars and the Gold Star Wives of America. Joy retired from the federal government after 55 years of service. She loved spending time with her children; Sharon, Timothy, Paula, Karleen, Kathy and Michael; as well as her 7 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Mercy Hospice and her caregivers for the compassion they provided to our mom during her illness; both have been a blessing to mom and our family. Services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Santa Fe Presbyterian Church in Edmond. Burial will be held the same day at 2:00 pm at Arlington Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Joy’s name to Santa Fe Presbyterian Church, 1603 N. Santa Fe, Edmond, OK 73003. Services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home.
Joy was a beautiful, lovely lady. She often referred to me as “her other daughter”. I have enjoyed being a “part” of her family. May you kids find peace knowing she is now in the arms of Jesus for eternity.
Mom I will miss you and love you, thank you for all the good times we had. And some day I will see you again!
