Joshua Ryan McWhorter was born on July 13, 1993 and unexpectedly passed away on July 20, 2020 at the age of 27. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Les McWhorter, Sr.; his grammy, Marvel Reynolds and several close friends. Joshua is survived by his parents, Lisa McWhorter Scruggs and Cody Scruggs; his brother Nathan McWhorter and wife Lindsey; his uncle, Les McWhorter, Jr.; and his granny, Cecelia McWhorter; as well as numerous close and extended family.

Joshua loved playing baseball and MMA training but most of all he loved wrestling. Joshua looked up to and loved his brother and on several occasions bragged about his brother coaching him on the wrestling mat. Joshua confided in and loved his mother with everything he had. She was his rock and set the foundation for one of the best people one could know. Joshua was the most giving and caring person imaginable, the type of person that would stop everything to stand up for or help anyone for any reason even in the toughest of times. Joshua also loved his social life and had countless friends and acquaintances, but most importantly he had a core group of lifelong friends he loved and cherished. Joshua will be deeply missed but never forgotten by his friends and family and all that knew him.

  1. I am so shocked and saddened about Josh. As we know, these viruses and diseases are no respecter of persons. Wish I could be there with you all. Since I am so high- risk for covid 19, just know my thoughts and prayers are with all of you . I love all of you so much. Peace be with you Josh. Love you always and forever.

  2. My name is Jamie Crosby. I just watched the live stream of the service. It was a beautiful service. My husband has COPD and with this COVID, I couldn’t make it in person. If my son could’ve found a way to swim the Pacific Ocean, he would’ve been there in person. He considered Josh his brother and we all considered him family. He had such a big heart and he got in all of our hearts and he will be deeply missed. My heart and thoughts and prayers go out to his family. And to Josh, I just want to say, I love you to infinity and beyond and I know I will see you again.

    Love,

    Jamie Crosby
