Johnnie Ray Wallace, 86, passed away on August 9, 2023, at his home in Edmond, OK.
The funeral service will be held at 2pm, August 14th at New Covenant Church of Edmond, OK. Interment will follow the funeral at Jones IOOF Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Matthews Funeral Home.
Johnnie Ray Wallace was born in Oklahoma City on December 15, 1936, to the late Nick and Eva Dell Wallace as the fifth of their seven children. He graduated from Jones High School in 1955.
Johnnie Ray was married to his High School sweetheart, Wanda, on September 29, 1954. They raised 3 beautiful daughters together, Rhonda, Tonda, and Tammy. The family moved from Jones to Lawton, then Elgin, and on to their final home, Edmond in 1974 where they stayed for the past forty years. John and Wanda were married 68 years.
John was employed by Associated Milk Producers, Inc in 1956 delivering feed to dairy farmers. He spent 40 years working for the dairy farm families and the dairy industry, retiring as Regional President. John was an avid golfer and bowler. He enjoyed camping with his family, hunting and fishing trips in and out of the country, spending time at their lake house in Eufaula and in retirement, their trailer in Missouri. Throughout his entire life he loved hosting fish fries for the community and family events. He was also a member of the masonic lodge.
John joins his daughter, Tammy Wallace Leach; parents, Nick and Eva Dell Wallace; siblings, Glenn Wallace, James Wallace, Nickie Wallace, Donald Wallace, and Cora Sue Weiss in heaven. John is survived by his wife Wanda; daughter, Rhonda Gelvin, and her husband Larry Gelvin; daughter, Tonda Kelly, and her husband Nick Kelly; brother, Robert Wallace; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Wanda wishes to thank those that have helped care for John; Nick and Tonda Kelly, Gerald Mobley, Jill Gelvin, Keri McKiddie, Kaylie Taylor, and Mercy Hospice.
Wanda and family I am so sorry for you loss. John was a great man and I know you all will miss his do. Hugs and prayers my friend.
I am grateful that I became acquainted with Johnnie and Wanda at New Covenant. Johnnie always had a sharp sense of humor and a wonderful wife in Wanda. Very sorry for the loss of Johnnie.
