John B. Johnson
September 17, 1931 – September 11, 2014
John B. entered this Earth on the family farm near Commerce, Texas on Sept. 17, 1931. He was the son of Beemis A. Johnson and Viola (McWhirter) Johnson. Both parents and sister, Mary Elizabeth Johnson preceded him in death. John, graduated from East Texas State College, Commerce Tx in 1953 with a B.S. Degree in Industrial Education. He entered the U.S. Air Force shortly after graduation. John made this his career and after 25 years, he retired as a Lt. Col. John married the Apple of his eye, Darlene Deaton of Greenville Tx. On Dec. 17, 1955. They had 58 wonderful and joyous years together and to this union, three loving and delightful children were born, Jolene Johnson of Edmond OK, Janette Johnson of Lincolnton NC, and Wesly Johnson of Dallas Tx. After USAF retirement, John and Darlene settled in Edmond, OK where he began his second career as Director of Operations for the Okla. City Housing Authority. Retiring for good in 1992, they began traveling the USA in their motor home and spending some winter months in Ariz., Calif., and Texas. Also, John enjoyed his and Darlene’s weekend get-away place, with their children, on Lake Eufaula Ok. John B. departed this Earth and made his Last Flight on September 11, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Darlene, his three children, and two grandchildren Addison Johnson and Lauren Johnson of Kingston Ok. Services are 2pm Tuesday September 16, 2014 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel.
To man and family, just wanted you all to know that our hearts and prayers are with you during this time. May The Lord you peace and comfort and you feel His presence as you go through these next few days and weeks.
