John Andrew Gilpin
John Andrew Gilpin was born March 28, 1923 to John Henry and Sylvia (Williams) Gilpin in Beardstown, Illinois. At the age of 14, John joined the CCC. He was also a veteran of WWII and awarded several medals during his service. John was a truck driver for HJ Jeffries, Bond Bread and retired from Wonder Bread.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Donald, David, Robertine McGee, Wayne, Sherwin, and Sherwood. He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Graeber); their children: David (Linda) Gilpin, Carol (Rusty) Wooden, Anita (Clyde) Jones, and John Matthew (Christie) Gilpin, many grand and great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond on Thursday, December 26th from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 27, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel with a reception to follow. Military Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Spring Creek Memorial Cemetery, 14300 N. County Line Road, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
