1949 – 2020
Joe Steve Ross, 71, of Edmond, passed away September 14, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Jane and Joseph Howard Ross and his wife, Carol Ann Ross. He is survived by his daughter Susan (Matt) Babiak, son Forrest (Jeannie) Bath, son Joseph Austin Ross; sister Judith Ann Scott and brother Gary Lee (LaDana) Ross; grandchildren Killian, Lexi, Nicolas, Eli and Archer; niece Sarah (Brian) Lynch; nephews, Shane (Donna) Scott, Chad (Susan) Scott and Jack Ross. Joe ”Steve” was born in Hobbs, New Mexico on April 23, 1949. Growing up mostly in Lubbock, TX the Ross Family ultimately moved to Duncan, OK where he would graduate high school. Joe attended Central State University where he enjoyed working at the campus radio station. He was incredibly proud of his six years of service with the Army National Guard and always enjoyed chatting about his time spent in Germany. Joe went on to become a parts manager for United Engine and would later become the best stay-at-home Dad around. Joe was always good with his hands and enjoyed woodworking, cooking and drawing. In his later years he enjoyed reading, puzzling and telling stories. Services will be held at Matthews Funeral Home on Saturday, September 19th at 10:00 A.M. with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

We loved us some Steve Ross and the Ross family.They always made you fell good to be around. Even now in this time of sadness, I feel joy in my spirit for having the Ross family in my life!

I remember going back and staying with the Ross family after they visited Atchison for a week when I was very young. Even though Steve was several years older, he treated me like an older brother while visiting. Took time to take us out and do things during the day and keep me entertained.
One evening while there, he made all of us (Gary and me) a malt out of an entire gallon if ice cream. I thought that was so cool and still remember it today.
Susan great job talking at the funeral today; I know how hard that is. You were a great daughter and away were there for your dad.
To the entire family, sorry for your loss; he will be missed.

I have 2 memories of Steve 1 in Duncan around 71 and the other on th he Beach in San Diego with the entire Ross family…..in Duncan I remember Shane and Chad got the dummy from California to eat a couple green apples or what ever that was growing out in the yard..Steve came out laughing said your gona get a belly ake..I said Noooo….
About 30 min later ….it came on with a vengeance….still talking about 50 yrs later…No more belly akes if the Fathers house…..our sorrow is only temporary….Thank you Jesus
