JoAnn Hazel (Bowers) Knutson of Edmond, OK passed into the hands of her Lord and Savior on September 16th, 2020 at her home in Edmond. She was born on June 17th, 1937 in Fergus Falls, MN to Robert and Hazel (Wilde) Bowers. She spent her youth in Pelican Rapids, MN where she graduated and met her husband, Donald Knutson. She and Donald wed on September 15th, 1956 in Elizabeth, MN. Her journey as an Air Force wife lasted from June of 1959 to June of 1985 when Donald retired as a Colonel at Tinker Air Force Base. She provided Donald undying support as a loving wife and mother. Their 64 year union produced four children: Mark, Jon, Tracy and her husband Delbert, and Kara and her husband Brack; seven grandchildren: Shelby, Jon Kelly Jr., Katy, Jenna, Paige, Jayci, and Joelle; and two great-grandchildren: Thor and Apollo. JoAnn is also survived by her brother Robert, his wife Mary, and their children of Pelican Rapids, MN.

JoAnn fiercely loved her family and friends, and she was always eager to welcome new people into her home. She went above and beyond as a homemaker as well from cooking, to decorating for every season, to tending to her garden and flower beds, to documenting every special occasion. She was an avid collector, and she loved shopping at antique stores looking for the next find. She and Donald loved to travel and saw a lot of the world during their time in the Air Force as well as with their casino trips. Her very favorite place was visiting her extended family at the lake in Minnesota. She loved to share those experiences with her children and grandchildren. She was her grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader and spent as much time as possible with each one of them. Her loving and caring nature will be greatly missed by the family and friends she leaves behind.

Viewing will be held Tuesday, September 22nd, 2020 from 1:00 until 8:00 p.m. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home located at 601 S. Don and family,

Grief never ends…but it changes. It’s a passage, and not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith…it’s the price of LOVE…and JoAnn gave you plenty to share! Please know, that someone so special will NEVER be forgotten! Our prayer is that God will provide you with the strength and courage to help you face the days ahead.

Wishing you comfort and hope through prayer!
