Jimmy Ray “Jim” Harrris

1938-2015

Jimmy Ray Harris, 76, passed away at 1:33 am March 24, in the presence of his loved ones.

Jimmy was born on June 14, 1938, in Tipton, Ok, to Carl and Aline Lindsey Harris.

Jimmy graduated from Central High School in Marlow, Ok. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1962 and proudly served until being honorably discharged in 1966. Shortly after leaving the Navy, he met and fell in love with Annette Liles and the two married. He was unfailingly faithful to his loving wife and raised three beautiful children, Diana Lee (Noel) Farley, Cindy Lynette (Bobby) Barnhill, and Jimmy Craig Harris, all of Edmond, Ok.

Jimmy worked for Walcolmonoy from 1966-1970, after being honorably discharged from the United States Navy. Following his time there, he worked for his brother Robert building many of the homes and schools in Edmond, leading to his time with Amcal Construction. Jimmy also worked for Cellxion for 14 years and finally worked at Sabre Towers up until the last 6 months of his life.

Jimmy is survived by his brothers Robert (Wanda) Harris, Edmond, Ok., Richard (Sue) Harris, Kearns, Tx, Mitchell (Peggy) Harris, Edmond, Ok., Sammy (Sherry) Harris, Edmond, Ok., Dixie (Jeri) Harris, Edmond, Ok, and Roger (Carolyn) Harris, Arlington, Tx. He was preceded in death by father, Carl Harris, mother, Aline Lindsey Harris, sisters, Cherry Ford and Betty Crockett.

Jimmy was a man of integrity and kindness and raised his children with unconditional love. He sowed the seeds of wisdom, love, and faith in God in his children, which were then passed down to his 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. His generosity and acceptance were invariable and he loved to be surrounded by family. His goal was to not live forever, but to create something that will- and he will never be forgotten. Jimmy’s spirit will always be kept in his family’s hearts as well as his love and good humor.

  2. Sis and Family,

Grief is a profound part of recovery and new life. Tears of regrets, remorse and despair waters the roots of love and life itself. To deny and avoid the hurts and pains of life’s losses is to negate life’s importance. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and know that broken hearts are healed with time. Lee & Nita Liles
